Work with the Tax Department team to timely resolve tax issues arising in RBC or CNB trust accounts. Assist with setting up new accounts to have them ready to file a trust tax return in the following tax season. Review information in accounts, or when notified to have the tax returns filed timely and accurately, and to resolve any outstanding issues.

Private Banking Division
As a member of City National's Private Banking group, you will help deliver tailored financial solutions to high- and ultra-high-net-worth families, select professional services firms and select nonprofits. Exceptional, customized service and integrated solutions and strategies, investment management, trust and wealth planning set this team apart.


  • Research and resolve tax issues arising in the administration of RBC and/or CNB trust accounts
  • Research cost basis, complete 1099 account reconciliations to income and expense items categories, good accounting understanding of how trusts work in general and how taxability flows to and through a trust.
  • Research tax issues, notices, and resolve problems with the IRS and other taxing authorities.



  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of Trust Tax experience

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to work extremely well with people and on a team, in a sometimes quick paced deadline driven environment. And the ability to work independently to meet all deadlines.
  • 5+ years’ experience with (1041) trust tax returns and ability to interpret trust instruments preferred. Understanding of estimates, tax dues, payments, and how to read these items from the Form 1041 tax return. Other tax return experience is a positive including individual, estate and charitable foundations.
  • Experience with OneSource preferred. Experience with SEI, Excel, Word, Outlook is a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and be well organized.
  • Experienced accounting background a must. CPA, EA or equal level of experience is a plus.
  • Must possess strong professional oral and written communication skills when working with clients, legal, administration, or anyone inside and outside the organization.
  • The internal tax group provides a friendly work environment. It needs to meet certain critical deadlines and additional hours may be needed in order to meet these requirements. Peak times are normally February 1st through April 15th and the month of September.
Starting base salary: $90,762 - $114,347 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
