DIRECTOR, BUSINESS PROCESS EXCELLENCE



WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This position will take a new approach to our business and deliver options that better align with our Client, Advisors & Private Bankers changing needs and preferences. The Private Bank must continue to transform to align with the transformation of the market, Client/Advisor & Private Banking relationships and the growth of low cost banking & investment options. This position will direct a wide variety of Lean Six Sigma improvement projects, as well as Design Thinking initiatives that are cross functional and inter-departmental. They will work extensively with Private Bank senior leaders to identify gaps and opportunities and apply frameworks that fundamentally transform both front and back office functions. Ultimately leading to a transformation journey intent on deepening and extending this transformation to achieve operational excellence.This position will play a crucial role in the transformation and enhancement of our business to deliver improvements in efficiency, employee engagement and Client/Advisor & Private Banker experience. This will be achieved by identifying, shaping and delivering work packages across the end to end client journey while driving efficiencies and improvements in our products, solutions, systems, people and processes. Lean Six Sigma techniques will deliver value and measurable solutions across the end-to-end journey while we re-engineer and industrialize end-to-end processes making them more efficient, robust, repeatable and consistent.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Influence Private Bank senior stakeholders to adopt best practices and to collaborate as a leadership group to transform the client experience through improving operational excellence while demonstrating thought leadership and a commitment to the strategy.
  • Work with the business to review Private Bank delivery from a client/advisor & Private Banker perspective and define/prioritize business problems and opportunities; explore and scope possible solutions to problems, build commitment to agreed solutions and enable transformational business change that fundamentally enhances the way the business operates, creating value and improved delivery of strategies.
  • As well as being part of a highly collaborative team, the role will involve training and coaching others in Lean Six Sigma and Design Thinking to expand knowledge and capability resulting in incremental improvement to the top and bottom line.
  • Identify opportunities for Operational Excellence to be a core competency and an ongoing, sustainable way of improving business by defining a pragmatic way of implementing the strategy effectively, working closely with leaders and by using the experience of similar situations to challenge the organization to improve operational capability and performance where necessary.
  • Focus on and lead a spectrum of opportunities to raitonalise existing operations and use their experience and skills to embed Lean Work Management practices. Include best business practices such as researching and benchmarking, collating/analyzing process data, providing consultancy support to the business and making recommendations while reengineering and standardizing end to end processes.
  • Develop strategies to fundamentally redesign the operating models that are not achieving target returns, carefully considering products, client segmentation, delivery, service requirements, and which resources are required to deliver a distinctive client experience. Apply consistent and ambitious design principles to make organizational processes, decision rights and structures simpler, more balanced and meritocratic. Design approaches to create simple, common, lean and digitally-enabled processes for targeted activities that drive the greatest value.
  • Drive a culture of Advisor/Client & Private Banker focus, data-driven decision-making, ownership of processes, operational metrics and continuous improvement while formulating guidelines. Promote leadership and collaboration while creating and delivering a communication and coaching plan to develop the understanding of Operational Excellence and creating a culture of continuous improvement.



WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in engineering, finance, IT, business or marketing)
  • 5 years’ enterprise level experience leading transformation programs for client facing organizations and or functional groups (in industry) or commensurate experience in consultancy
  • 5 years transformation management experience at a senior level; including a successful track record of implementing large scale workflow solutions
  • 5 years of experience in developing robust methodologies and approaches that relate to primary productivity strategies such as business model optimization, organizational productivity and process productivity
  • 4 + Years experience in utilizing the Design Thinking framework, both in the practitioner and lead capacity


Skills and Knowledge

  • Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt accredited (or MBB must be demonstrated with certification and significant enterprise wide project delivery). Highly proficient in Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 8 years’ enterprise level experience leading transformation programs for client facing organizations and or functional groups (in industry) or commensurate experience in consultancy
  • 8 years transformation management experience at a senior level; including a successful track record of implementing large scale workflow solutions
  • 8 years of experience in developing robust methodologies and approaches that relate to primary productivity strategies such as business model optimization, organizational productivity and process productivity
  • 5 + Years experience in utilizing the Design Thinking framework, both in the practitioner and lead capacity
  • A trusted adviser to senior leaders on the following topics: Operational redesign, G&A cost reduction, Enterprise Workflow and Imaging, Business Process Management (BPM), SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Theory and Practice, process optimization, continuous improvement, service delivery effectiveness, design thinking and productivity improvement
  • Track record of delivering functional expertise on transformations at an Enterprise level
  • Ability to develop short and long-term plans for all relevant levels of the enterprise/organization
  • High-value personal qualities - critical thinking and problem solving skills, ability to influence, work in teams, resourceful, responsible, tenacious, independent, self-confident, high-energy, etc.
  • Ability to introduce new frameworks, tools, or ways of using existing material.
  • Must be a critical and strategic thinker with seasoned problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Must possess superior interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess ability to create influential documents, presentations and facilitate groups or teams.
  • Must possess working knowledge of financial and budget process.
