HEAD OF DIVERSE BANKING MARKETS



WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Primary responsibility is to raise City National Bank's ("CNB's") profile in diverse banking markets and source and develop new business for the bank and drive Diversity, Equity and Inclusion ("DEI") thinking across the enterprise through all line of business executives and senior leadership team members. This highly visible leader will be externally focused, will serve as an ambassador in our various communities and report directly to the President of the Bank. The successful candidate will actively collaborate with leaders across the enterprise, including partnering with the SVP Multicultural Strategy Manager from the Marketing Product & Digital division.The successful candidate will engage in building and recruiting high performing banker and talent teams across all lines of business; represent CNB at diverse business community and professional associations; and drive strategy and increase market share in cross cultural markets across enterprise wide product lines and client coverage lines of business.





WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Create and execute an overall corporate strategic plan that produces long term, sustainable and measurable annual production targets and revenue growth success throughout the enterprise within each of the lines of business; document, report and communicate results to executive management on a quarterly basis.
  • Lead the development of long range strategy plans for key diverse priority segments, e.g. Women, Latinx/Hispanic, Asian, Black/African American, Native/Indigenous, Veteran, Persons with Disabilities and LGBTQ+ around the enterprise and across all key product areas, lines of business and geographical bank footprints in the U.S.
  • This subject matter expert has extensive banking and lending experience working at a major banking institution, preferably targeting the middle market space defined as companies with sales of $5MM to $1B+. The successful candidate will have had experience in some combination of business banking, credit, lending, wealth, business development and relationship management verticals.
  • This individual will serve as an ambassador for CNB to further bolster our reputation and commitment to DEI markets, strategies and business development efforts across our various client segments and product platforms.
  • The successful candidate is a natural collaborator who will drive DEI focused initiatives across various lines of business. He/she will drive DEI focused new business, analyze needs of prospects and provide information about Bank products and services that can enhance a prospect's financial position. There will be regular interaction with Bank colleagues to discuss diverse market initiatives, prospects/referrals and sales strategies.
  • Cultivates referral sources through contacts within the Bank and the community through involvement in civic activities, philanthropic organizations and community sponsored programs to obtain new business prospects and referrals.
  • Successful candidate will be an ambassador and driver of external business development for CNB in diverse banking markets across all business lines. He/she will exhibit an inclusive planning process and drive DEI new business communication across the Executive Committee, senior leadership team, divisions and other stakeholders.
  • Will be an influential segment leader focused on developing end to end, experienced based customer segments growth strategies to ensure an attractive business model, drive meaningful growth and contribute to the overall revenue growth goals at the bank.



WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 20 years banking experience in the top 10% of the US large financial institutions specifically in sales and relationship management
  • Minimum 10 years banking segment strategy, sales and execution practice
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in a leader/manager role


Skills and Knowledge

  • Senior manager with ability to strategize, build and execute business segmentation in diverse markets and recruit top banking professionals to the Bank in the lines of business.
  • Solid understanding of all banking products and services applicable to the target client segment.
  • Ability to work autonomously in making sound business decisions and exercise appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.
  • Solid knowledge in credit and credit policies and procedures, as well as bank operations, policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record in driving sales or sales programs in the banking industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent ability to influence executives and senior leadership.
  • Strong problem solving and persuasion skills.
  • Special projects as assigned.
