INFRASTRUCTURE ENGINEER


WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Infrastructure Systems Engineer (IE) r is responsible for configuring and maintaining infrastructure hosting services including servers, operating system builds, storage, hosting, configuration management, asset lifecycle, virtualization, cloud solutions, backups, and disaster recovery, ensuring high level system availability. The successful candidate will also be an expert in supporting the bank's public Azure cloud and will have extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code ensuring smooth delivery and operation of IT services Responsibilities:


Technology and Innovation Division
As a member of City National's Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.


WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Primarily oversee City National Bank on-premises infrastructure and modernize leveraging cloud capabilities
  • Participate in developing and executing Data Center migrations, including application and core infrastructure services.
  • Support the Datacenters, remote locations and public cloud environment in maintaining hardware, software and automation systems
  • Improve monitoring and instrumentation
  • Increase automation by applying AIOps principles
  • Participate in compliance and IT Risk initiatives, including internal and external audits when required
  • Assist in defining data governance policies and procedures like disaster recovery plans
  • Develop and maintain documentation relating to all assigned systems
  • Maintains contact with vendors, industry peers, and professional organizations to keep informed of existing and evolving industry standards and technologies.
  • Provide oversight for new technology implementation and design.
  • Provide 3rd level support for the Infrastructure hosting team
  • Work in a team environment on project driven work with minimal supervision
  • Participate to the on-call rotation
  • Perform after hours support and implementation, including weekends


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or in a related technical field
  • Minimum 6 years of experience working with Information technologies as a system engineer
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing backups
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in hybrid cloud Environments


Skills and Knowledge

  • B.S. in Computer Science or in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Expert level of OS troubleshooting in Windows environment, Linux RHEL a plus
  • Expert understanding of Client/Server architectures
  • Expert at managing backups in an enterprise infrastructure environment – CommVault and Cohesity experience a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of hybrid cloud configuration, management and monitoring - Azure preferred
  • Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) experience and scripting knowledge highly desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships
  • Good understanding of project management methodologies and procedures
  • Experience with Infrastructure automation tools, Chef and Terraform a plus
  • Preferred Education - Master’s degree in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of ITIL (certification is plus),
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (preferred), AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, DevOps Engineer (certification is plus)
  • Broad and deep experience with Windows, Linux (CentOS, SlackWare, Gentoo, Ubuntu, etc).
  • Experienced in Active Directory and Group Policies & GPO
  • Experienced in Docker/Docker Hub and Kubernetes (pods, services etc)
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, layer 2/3 switching, VLAN, VXLAN, inter-VLAN routing, LACP, Etherchannel and other advance concepts
  • Working knowledge of SSH, Kerberos, Radius, SAML, BIND DNS (nsupdate, dnssec, stubs, delegation) and others.
  • Experienced in load-balancing (local/global), F5 and Netscalers as well as Cisco networking products
  • Experienced in SAN/NAS storage administration and good understanding of object storage, block storage, file storage and other modern storage technologies (i.e. 3PAR, Nimble)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced understanding of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Manage vendor relationships and with internal teams.
Compensation
Starting base salary: $92,114 - $156,880 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
