Reporting to the Head of Wealth & Private Technology, the SVP of Private Banking Platform supports the organization in identifying, piloting and implementing new and innovative solutions that enables the wealth and private banking organization to leverage new technologies and tools to pivot towards becoming a nimbler, more cost-efficient & forward-leaning organization in order to transform the client experience & the private banking business to deliver a white glove experience via an omni channel delivery model This individual will be responsible for developing the next generation of platforms to support private banking solutions as part of the digital transformation program. These platforms will be engage with clients, advisors, bankers, sales teams, and portfolio managers in CNB and CNR's collaborative digital wealth ecosystem that will support a multitude of capabilities across the full lifecycle of client engagement from developing the proposal for new clients for their private banking needs from lending, deposit, trust, wealth solutions, to onboarding, and then managing the clients relationship as part of this platform with an omnichannel platform. The solution would require knowledge on CRM, banking platforms such as FIS, lending – residential, commercial and other custom lending solutions and wealth (trust, planning, asset management). Technology and Innovation Division
As a member of City National's Technology & Innovation group, you will drive, develop, and maintain solutions for clients and colleagues. This is an exciting time of technology advancement and innovation across the bank, particularly within our technology teams.


  • Provide thought leadership by identifying strategic topics and presenting compelling ideas for possible research or incorporation into the CNB Private and wealth platform ecosystem. Stay abreast of developments and trends in the innovation space. Participates in strategic planning process for the Private Banking and Wealth areas
  • Partner with the leadership team, sales teams, relationship bankers, portfolio managers, advisors, operations, and other key stakeholders to drive impact and deliver outcomes for each project or initiative. Provide leadership, judgment and decision making in evolving environment with aggressive goals, common to an innovation environment where the operating model and the portfolio of work may continue to shift.
  • Member of the Wealth and Private tech team to influence the changes needed to help with the transformation efforts across people, process and platforms.
  • Maintain current and evolving knowledge of the wealth management, Fintech, and financial services industry, understanding the trends of a changing business landscape and translating those insights into potential impacts for CNR.
  • Ability to deliver projects and programs in a modern technology environment and software development trends and best practices (domain driven design, software as a service, scalable architecture, iterative development and testing, integrated testing protocols, DevOps culture).
  • Ability to support proof of concepts, pilot and rollout of new solutions
  • Display creative and out-of-the-box thinking which maximizes resources for CNB and its stakeholders. Leads programmatic process improvement and continuously identifies ways to improve our ability to develop innovative solutions, influence innovation culture, and improve upon our operating model.
  • Lead the design and implementation of interactive digital platform to enable private banking – lending and banking services along with, portfolio management platform, and portfolio analytics solutions built on .net/Java, API’s based ecosystem that engages with users on mobile devices (phones and tablets) and browsers
  • Drive and coordinate the technical life cycle of web and mobile applications across design, coding, testing, deployment using a CI approach
  • Responsible for the design of the applications in the ecosystem including the creation of detailed design specifications.
  • Proactively work to improve the performance and delivery of the complete platform stack including performance tuning, design, develop & perform code review, and deployment assessment and production problem resolution.
  • Manage the development team consisting of full stack developers to deliver the platforms. Development team may include colleagues, contractors and consultants. Will require engagement with other members of the Digital team consisting of business/product analysts, UX designers, developers, data architect, QA to deliver in an agile delivery approach. Delivery will also require collaborating with T&I teams to deliver solutions.

  • Experience with business model innovation is a plus. Digital innovation, culture and transformation work is also a plus.



  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Engineering
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in software development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience independently designing and developing applications in a large enterprise environment (financial services preferred)

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience with implementing large web based and mobile scalable solutions in the private banking domain. Experience in Consulting to help drive strategy and execution.
  • Experience in leveraging API’s both internal and external to deliver solutions.
  • Deep understanding of analytics and data science to foster an analytics culture
  • Experience with digital banking enablement with core platform vendors such as FIS to deliver the omnichannel engagement model with Salesforce and other digital enablement technologies to address CX for the HNW clients and their ecosystem
  • Experience with implementing platforms to create an engaging client experience to support web and mobile solutions
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple competing high priority projects with varying deadlines
  • Ability to effectively lead and motivate project teams
  • Achieves results under limited direction
  • Expert level understanding of formal design patterns and best practices required
  • Experience implementing Web services/API’s with REST to implement mobile/web platform
  • Strong understanding of System Failures (internal and external)
  • Must be able to troubleshoot complex Internet performance application issues (requires an understanding of how the systems scale up)
  • Lead or Principal level experience
  • Expert level proficiency in C# .NET and MVC Web Applications including designing the architecture
  • Expert level proficiency in Rich Internet App technologies (JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3)
  • Programming languages, tools and DBMS such as:
  • Visual Studio.NET including .net and .net core, MVC, Entity Framework (a plus), Java, CSS, Java Script, XML, HTML, MS SQL Server, T-SQL SSIS and SSRS, TFS, Docker, Bamboo, Python, Angular, iOS, Android, Bitbucket, Octopus, Chef, Artifactory, Adobe Experience Manager, knowledge on use of API’s to develop applications leveraging Akana/Mulesoft.
  • Jira experience required; Ability to manage Agile delivery and Software development using Continuous integration approach
  • Expert in object oriented design, principals and implementation
  • Expertise in data analytics to support cognitive analytics/Machine learning and development of Artificial Intelligence capabilities into the wealth management platform.
  • Outstanding analytical & problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in Database design.
  • Solid experience implementing large-scale/high performance multi-tier web applications across multiple technology domains
  • Able to work effectively and coordinate development with development teams across the country and offshore
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry preferred
  • Masters degree preferred
